Count purchasable planks, not just square feet
Flooring is normally purchased as whole planks or cartons. The calculator converts the room area into a plank count, applies the planning waste percentage, and then rounds the purchase requirement to whole pieces and boxes. It also subtracts usable matching planks you already own.
Real installations can require more material for angled rooms, pattern direction, stagger rules, damaged boards, minimum end joints and manufacturer requirements. Keep dye lot or production-batch compatibility in mind when mixing saved material with new flooring.
