What can I make with leftover deck boards?
Start with actual board length, face width, profile and condition. Short remnants may be excellent for a repair or small outdoor project even when they are useless for a long uninterrupted deck run.

Short offcuts
Potential uses include blocking, small repair pieces, planter components, utility shelves or nonstructural outdoor accents when the material and profile are appropriate.
Medium board lengths
These may work for bench surfaces, steps, small landing repairs or compact platform sections. Individual required spans still have to fit the available pieces.
Long matching boards
Long remnants are especially valuable for deck repairs because uninterrupted runs can be difficult to substitute with several short pieces.
Board count alone is not enough
Check material type, profile, thickness, board direction, support locations, fastener requirements and installed gaps. Composite and wood decking can behave differently, and structural or walking surfaces need suitable support.
