The shape of the project can matter as much as the total area
Ten square feet of tile cannot automatically cover every 10-square-foot shape. A narrow strip, centered pattern, diagonal layout, outlet-heavy backsplash or irregular repair may require more pieces because the cut remnants cannot always be reused.
