How much baseboard do you need for a 12×12 room?
A rectangular 12 ft × 12 ft room has a 48 linear foot perimeter before subtracting door openings. The amount you buy depends on openings, waste and the stock lengths available.

Perimeter = 2 × (12 + 12) = 48 ft. If one 3-foot doorway interrupts the baseboard, the net run becomes 45 ft. A 10% planning allowance brings that example to 49.5 ft before rounding to full stock pieces.
That does not mean every 12×12 room should buy exactly the same number of boards. Wide openings, closets, built-ins, outside corners and the lengths sold by your supplier change the takeoff. Use the baseboard calculator for your actual dimensions.
Count leftover trim before buying full lengths
